THIS EVENT IS FULL Sacred Sites Tour

Sacred Sites Tour
Saturday, June 4th, 1:00pm to 5:00pm, followed by a pot luck and discussion

Please join this Sacred Sites Tour led by Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs and Bob Klanerud, followed by a pot luck and dialog to reflect.

This event centers around the sites at B'Dote, the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers, below Fort Snelling. This tour is a rare opportunity to hear the stories of Minnesota and of our Native American brothers and sisters told from their point of view, including espeically the events that happened to the Dakota and HoChunk tribes at the hands of the US Government on this land during the fall/winter of 1862 .  It is an opportunity to building understanding and healing. We meet at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Mendota, and proceed by car to several sites in the area. Following the event we will have a potluck dinner and discussion led by one or both of our tour guides, Rev. Jim Bear Jacobs (Mohican) and Bob Klanerud (Dakota) on Picnic Island at Fort Snelling State Park.

Note:  This is not a constellation event per se, but is a result of a constellation done last fall to answer the question: What will it take to heal our city?  One representative told us that the original wound started with the desecration of the first peoples and the land and waters here, so this is an opportunity to see the damage that our ancestors did, and let it stir us to further healing.

There is a limit of 30 tickets available for this event, so register soon. MN Council of Churches, who sponsors this activity, asks for a donation of $60. If this fee is unmanageable for you, please contact Katherine to discuss what would work. We have some scholarship money available. Once registered and closer to the event, she will send out more information.
